MEMBER BENEFITS

Members can attend meetings, participate in contract negotiations, vote on Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), be nominated to hold elected or appointed positions, elect the Local’s leadership, and serve as a Union steward or officer. There are also several programs sponsored through the International that members have access to.

REFERRAL LIST

IATSE 119 maintains a referral list of technicians and registrants in good standing. Our contracted employers have agreed to give preference in hiring to those referred to them by IATSE 119. Please note that having your name placed on our list does not guarantee you any work.

REGISTRATION & FEES

A technician must register with IATSE 119 before being added to the referral list. Once registration is complete, the Local will notify all signatory employers. The preferred method for any individual not currently on IATSE 119’s referral list who wishes to be included on it is to have an employer request that they register with the Local. Technicians may also register directly with the Local by submitting a resume of past work history that also contains verifiable references. Once an individual’s resume is vetted and accepted, they may register with the Local.

All registrants must pay a yearly $70 Referral Registration Fee to be placed on the list. Per the Union Security Clause in IATSE 119’s CBA with its signatory employers, any registrant who is engaged by an employer for a cumulative (may be non-consecutive) total of thirty (30) actual workdays within any two consecutive calendar years is required, as a condition of continuing to be eligible to appear on the referral list, to apply with the Local for membership within fourteen (14) days of this notice. Failure to do so will render any such technician(s) ineligible to be hired for any future engagements.

Upon approaching the 30-day threshold within two consecutive calendar years, the registrant will receive an application for membership from the Local. For Full Membership for all new applicants, the initial cost is $670 ($420 for utilities and Board Show members). This includes the International’s (non-refundable $100) and Local’s ($250 for utilities and Board Show members, $500 for all others) initiation fees, as well as dues of $70 for the quarter you join IATSE 119. Per IATSE 119’s Constitution and By-Laws, new applicants must provide proof of having had residency within the jurisdiction for 18 months prior to seeking membership.

Applications and the membership initiation fee can be mailed to:

IATSE Local 119
P.O. BOX 884651
San Francisco, CA
94188

Completed forms, but not fee payments, may also be uploaded to the Local’s Dropbox.

QUARTERLY DUES

Once your membership is approved, your ongoing financial obligations to the IATSE (as of 2022) is $70 per quarter. You will be issued a new IATSE stamp for each quarter which you are current. Quarterly due dates are January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1.

There are three methods to pay your quarterly dues, two of which have no fee. You can mail a check, made out to IATSE 119, to IATSE 119’s P.O. Box, or you can send money via Zelle, if your bank has it, to treasurer@iatse119.com. The third way is via PayPal but it includes a service fee.

In addition, it is strongly preferred that applicants sign a dues authorization form allowing signatory employers to withhold and forward to the Local 3.5% of all gross earnings as working dues per its Constitution and By-Laws. Applicants may opt not to do so, but the burden of correctly calculating the 3.5% and remitting timely payments to the Local will fall on the new member.

All persons receive equal benefits under the contract, regardless of their membership status with IATSE 119.
